GRAEME MCDOWELL

Recently I had the pleasure to shoot one of sports Gentlemen, Graeme McDowell. It was an unusually cold and wet early summer day in Portmarnock Golf Course when we drove up to the club house and we spent the first hour snooping about the interior looking for a good plan b should the heaven's decide to open on my course idea.

That's when my assistant and I found out about the no jeans policy in golfing club houses.

The grey clouds loomed but luckily there was no downpour and we got a few shots that were fit for the Magazine Cover and a decent interview slot.

One thing I never knew about shooting sponsored celebrities is even if the light is hard to get under the sponsors cap, the sponsors cap isn't coming off.

Until you are in the club house that is. Thankfully they didn't kick me out or make me take my jeans off. Instead they gave me tea and biscuits. How civilized.

Dylan Magazine

Every six months I get the chance to shoot a creative bunch of people for the biannual Dylan Hotel in-house Magazine. This time 'round we chose a number of Chefs in their Restaurants as the subject of the article. From Michelin starred 'Chapter One' and 'L'Ecrivan' to modern chic 'Forest Avenue' on to super healthy 'Alchemy' in BT2 Grafton Street ending up in the sumptuous 'Ananda'. So many opportunities for pictures in each place made the edit hard to pare down but the final result is out now and you can peruse it exclusively over a nice cocktail in the Dylan Hotel Bar anytime you like. I hope you do and I hope you enjoy the trends, talents and top table talk of article author Lizzie Gore Grimes.

CARA Magazine Cover and Sweet Success Article

This month I had the great pleasure of shooting an interesting article for Cara Magazine (Aer Lingus in flight Magazine) called 'Sweet Success', a series of interviews with Irish confectionery heroes. It all started out on a sunny day in Dublin the large part of which we spent indoors among the ovens of Brodericks Brothers & The Wild Flour Bakery.  The next morning we headed out on the road for a whistle stop one day tour of the west and south of the Country visiting Athenry for an early morning sitting with the owners of 'Foods of Athenry' in the lashing rain, getting a two minute rain break to catch their outdoor portrait. Then having the coils on my engine go midway between there and The Burren, where I gently coaxed the motor all the kit and my assistant to the top of a mountain to shoot the good folk of Hazel Mountain Chocolate Company. From there it was on to Limerick to shoot Nicole Dunphy of Pandora Bell and goof about with huge yellow lollies for an hour or so (made the cover) before we said our goodbyes and headed on to what must have been one of the most picturesque places I've ever shot at, Lismore Castle in Waterford. Sadly the weather drove us back to the kitchens which were laid out in an incredible array of biscuits by The Lismore Food Company and entertaining stories pertaining to the castle and it's occupants. Finally laden down with goodies we limped back to Dublin in our poor motor which survived and passed it's MOT/NCT last week so no permanent damage done. Check out some of the pictures from the article and some out takes that landed on the cutting room floor.

Zandra Rhodes

Last week I shot the designer Zandra Rhodes with her new collection. It was a crazy day between meetings with journalists (she was on a press junket promting her new range). She had the coolest silver pirate pants on with colourful chunky jewellery. I often say, great subjects make great pictures and that statement rings true right here. Thanks Zandra for being a great subject.

Lisa Lambe

A couple of months ago I did a shoot with Lisa Lambe for her new album. It launches today www.lisalambe.ie so I can release some of the shots I have been sitting on for a while now.

Aoibhinn McGinnity

It was cold and frosty today on the rooftop of The Marker hotel in Dublin's Docklands when we prepped for our shoot for Thomas Sabo Spring / Summer with Aoibhinn McGinnity. We dutifuly scraped the ice off the chairs and made spring in the city from the subtle January afternoon light. Gotta say she looks great in this final frame

Nick Munier

A while ago I did a shoot for Weirs Jewellers 'Style' Magazine. It feature a number of people with some of their favourite pieces of jewellery. This one of Nick Munier in his restaurant Pichet was particularly striking. It didn't make the layout cut but it evokes for me a sense of pensiveness where you feel the camera isn't there and you're just sitting across the table from him. I like it.

Thomas Sabo

Tonights office was back to The Marker Hotel for a little shoot for Thomas Sabo with Abby Harris & Sarah Morrissey. After a solid plan to shoot on the top floor penthouse bar, the heavens opened and we had to rush in and figure something out in the foyer and the rain. Typically as soon as we were done the sun came back out. Happy though.
